Dear Readers,
I saw the movie “Charlie St. Cloud on Monday and the movie left a lasting impression on me. Growing up I had always heard stories about how amazing the book was and that it was a must read. You know the titles, the books that you just can’t help hearing about. Regardless of where ever you are or whatever you’re doing…somehow the news finds you. Books and movies have that weird impact on the world and its various societies. No matter what, news travels and whether or not you quench your curiousity the fact is you still hear the news through the grapevine. Be it through a friend, co-worker, or family member, or even in passing by strangers. You also hear news via mediums such as radio, internet, TV, advertisements, and social networks such as Facebook or Twitter currently, etc.
All I have to say after seeing the movie is that I wish I had read the book sooner. My favorite part of the movie was an inspiring poem by one of my favorite poets E.E. Cummings. The poem is about taking chances and trusting your heart. I strongly believe the poem is both motivational and inspiring. I just had to share it with the world. Hoping I’d tell someone who hadn’t heard it yet and wishing that it’ll affect them as it did me.

Well, I have already lost track of how many times I’ve watched this movie…and I simply loved it…the poem is beautiful, thanks for sharing…I hadn’t read the complete version…but the idea of encouragement for taking chances, is indeed great!
The movie has touched me deep within…and I am sure it’s done the same to many people.

Thanks for your comment. I didn’t know that he was almost unknown in the UK. The poem is well known. I like the youtube video. loved the book when i read it a few years ago and enjoyed the film .thought it would have been more popular .

I think alot of people weren’t as familiar with it or maybe prejudged it beforehand, but once they see some of it the movie hooks them and eventually touches and inspires them. They just didn’t know what they were missing until they came across it. It’s more popular than you think….I get about 400-800 hits a week about it since 2010. It’s a beautiful thing to see people so curious about the movie, the story, and the poem.

I watched the movie again just a few hours ago. I was touched by the e.e. cummings quote that I just have to google it. Then I stumbled upon your blog . I just have to say that I love the movie. That it left me with the impression that I have to take chances in life. I will take chances from now on. 🙂

Like some others, I just watched the movie, liked it, cried a bit, and wanted to research the “trust your heart if the seas catch fire” quote, and found you! I used to mistakenly think that you needed to follow your head as much as your heart when it came to love, so that we all made the “right” decisions. But I’ve learned, painfully, that you just need to follow your heart, and minimize the impact of what you “think” you should do. I didnt do that with who may be the love of my life. I’m trying to resurrect it, and know I’ll be guided by my heart as I do. I hope sh’e guided by her heart as well.

I have this movie and have watched it so many times. I even watch it if comes on cable here. I always end up crying…. I read the book recently, and the movie does it justice (even though it’s a little different). That poem by ee cummings is so beautiful; I didn’t know the title, googled it and brought me here. I must admit I do the same no matter what part of the movie it’s at when this movie comes on cable even though I own it. It’s always amazing how inspirational a movie or a story can be that no matter where you pick the story back up it can still provoke deep thought and inspiration with every part. You’d be surprised how much attention and love it still generates after the book debuted in 2004 and the movie debuted in 2010. The numbers of searches on google for “Charlie St. Cloud” or the “E.E. Cummings inspiring Poem: Dive For Dreams” to this day is phenomenal and inspiring in itself. It’s a beautiful thing that so many are touched, moved, or inspired by the choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go. The discovery that miracles can happen if we simply open our hearts.
I’m happy you enjoyed the post. I originally began my blog to touch lives far away and meet those I wouldn’t normally meet if it wasn’t for my writing.

hi, i have always wondered and have been thoroughly researching and still can’t find an answer but what does it mean when he says, “for god likes girls and tomorrow and the earth?”
I just watched the movie today. I’ve seen it in the shops many times but was drawn to it today. It’s truly a very inspirational movie. Loved it even though it was sad… But it makes you realise how short life is and everyday truly is precious. Thanks for sharing the poem with us. It’s so beautiful 🙂
