It Pays to Promote Yourself and Take Chances on Getting to Know As Many People As You Can

(A picture of the order on the monitor.  Nothing fancy but it’s a start, fun yet inviting and playful.)

It’s 7AM and I came home to get my laundry sorted and to organize some paper work that was scattered throughout my room.  When I remembered my order.  A week ago I purchased a Skin for my laptop from  I decided to create something that would promote myself and my writing and photography.  You never know who you’ll meet or whose path you’ll cross and what doors it’ll open or where it’ll lead.  Besides it’s always fun and interesting to meet new people and hear their stories.  I love how many people you meet via social networking vs. everyday life.  It opens your world and changes your views and insight constantly.

One of the best things and pieces of advice anyone  ever gave me was to “Promote Yourself.”  People need to get to know who you are.  They need to get to know the various facets of your persona and gain a more personal connection or have a better understanding of you.  It’s like they say, if you don’t love yourself first how can you expect anyone else to.  You have to give people your all and put your whole heart into your efforts despite where it may lead you.  Hit or miss…at least you took a chance and put yourself out there.  How do you think people get noticed or become well known?  You gotta start the talk and it may seem like no one is listening or even pays attention but when you least expect it someone will come out of nowhere and take you by surprise.  They’re listening and they’re watching so don’t stop putting yourself out there.  NO FEAR…remember?  I know it’s easier said than done, but what’s stopping you?

Sweet Dreams I need to get some well needed rest, after all it’s football Sunday time to relax with loved ones and be lazy 😉 NIGHT

New addition to this post (added September 21st, 2010 @ 7:30PM):

I came home to go to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with my aunts and cousin before work and to my surprise, my Skin It order was lying on the dining room table.  I was so excited.  My anticipation had been building up because it had been a week since I ordered it, but it was well worth the wait.  I was proud to find out that the clarity was better than expected.  When I had viewed the proof on the computer I feared that the coloring and font of the letters were going to get lost in the background picture.  But to my astonishment they didn’t and my design came out well.  Thank God!  I’m so excited.  I only hope this will open more doors for my writing and photography.

I’m so excited! I just can’t hide it! (Singing the old 80’s song)

Sweet Dreams,

Love Katie

      Dear Moin,

Thank you for your comment. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you but had to take a break from blogging because my life got a little hectic towards end of Summer and beginning of Fall. I actually just had my first child in September, a baby girl. But I am slowly getting back into blogging, so please stay tuned. Thank you for the compliment, as a child I had a different upbringing than most children. I was actually raised by my Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents. Growing up around mostly adults I learned alot throughout the years. Their various ages and stages in life taught me very valuable lessons. I guess you could say I was like a sponge always absorbing every ounce of wisdom or spoken/written word. As well as listening to their experiences or learning from their mistakes.

As a child, I was often called a shadow because I loved to tag-along anywhere and everywhere. I always loved to do and learn new things. I was always afraid of missing out on something. Then as time passed I interacted w/ my family members and their friends or co-workers. I slowly learned even more by keeping quiet when I needed to and never being afraid to ask questions. As I attended school, not only did my education add to my insight but by never limiting myself I interacted w/ various cultures. As well as never discriminating against any age group, I always talked and interacted w/ younger and older students. Thus adding to my education and upbringing.
As a child I was always very in touch with my emotions, I owe this in big part to my family because they reassured me to never be afraid to express myself. No matter how scared, angry, or embarrassed….whatever emotion, I could always talk to them or ask any question. They always tried their best to give me the most honest answer, to the best of their ability, the best age appropriate answers. I have always worn my heart on my sleeve and I owe that in big part to my Grandfather. He taught me how to write at the young age of 7 and I slowly developed my passion over time. I had finally found something I was extremely passionate about, that gave me the ability to express myself in ways I never could before. Once you let your fears go, anything is possible. I learned alot from expressing myself by working through and writing my thoughts, feelings, or ideas, etc.

Yes, I have contemplated about writing a novel but I honestly have no idea where to start or how to go about it. I have been writing since I was 7 and have an immense collection of papers, poems, journals, random thoughts, etc. in my possession. Alot of people that I have known throughout my life do not always know the writer side of me, so I decided to start my blog to give people a chance to get to know and see a side they never have. As well as to express myself and share my writing and thoughts with the world. To my surprise, I have had readers stop past my blog from all around the world. When you first start a dream, it’s hard to fathom what type of impact your dream could have on others. The ripples are astounding. If you have any advice I’d be more than happy to listen please feel free to e-mail me @ Hope to hear from you. Enjoy your day & thank you for commenting…it definitely meant alot to sign on and see your comment.

      Love always Katie
